Zamana Haus is an independent educational institution opening its doors in Berlin in September 2026.

It is a place for musical excellence through the living practice of traditional music. We are a group of musicians and culture producers who have come together around a shared passion for the music that drives us. Living in Berlin, we are committed to developing and revitalising the traditional music scene.

Ensemble-Based, Practical Learning

The learning is ensemble-based and practical, focusing on the foundations of the various traditions and creating deep engagement with the music through listening and playing together. A team of highly skilled teachers, masters of their field, will guide a chosen ensemble, sharing decades of experience, balancing collective ensemble practice with personal, high-resolution attention to every student.

For Proficient Musicians Ready to Go Deeper

The program is intended for proficient and skilled musicians who are looking to expand their musical world. Following the submission of a video audition, participants are handpicked by the teachers, ensuring a high-level and instrumentally balanced ensemble. Over the course of five weeks, participants delve into a musical tradition, developing ensemble skills, rhythm, listening, and collective creativity. Each ensemble builds a repertoire, and performs it at a live concert at the end of the course.

Music That Belongs to the Community

Our music is not made to stay in the room. Alongside our commitment to the proficiency of musical ensembles, we place a strong emphasis on building a community around the music we create. Zamana Haus aims to become a musical home for all, not only participating musicians, but also the audience and the wider community surrounding us. Together, we hope to create spaces where people can reconnect with sounds that remind them of home, while also discovering the musical traditions of others. We host open rehearsals and live performances in welcoming venues across Berlin, inviting audiences to join and enjoy the process of making music and engage with the traditions that we explore.
